MISA-Zimbabwe commissions gender report on 2008 elections

MISA-Zimbabwe on 17 October 2008 commissioned its findings on the levels and extent of gender balance and sensitivity in the media’s coverage of the March 2008 elections through the launch of its Walking the Talk publication which emanates from extensive media monitoring of the country’s weeklies and the state-controlled Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC).

MISA founding chairperson dies
A veteran member of Namibia’s judiciary, and founding chairperson of the Trust Fund Board of the Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA), Judge John Manyarara, died in Windhoek on 28 May 2010. According to a report by a local media, The Namibian, on 31 May 2010, Manyarara died at the age of 79. He had been ill since April 2010, and was starting with chemotherapy for leukaemia shortly before his death.
